History of guest house :

La Gaucherie aux Dames is a former fortress built somewhere around the 12th century. Over the years it was built and rebuilt. The oldest castle later becoming a castle farm. In the early 18th century a newer castle was built on the neighboring farm and village, le Voide. After the French Revolution, this castle was burned and the castle owner guillotined in Angers.  In this seemingly peaceful area, it is hard to imagine that at one time not long ago, war brought brothers and families to fight amongst themselves in some of the bloodiest battles and times and often for reasons of religion or wealth.
