Together, after years of working in foreign development, in 1990, the couple started an international development organisation aimed at fighting poverty in urban areas. ECHOPPE (Exchange for the Organisation and the Promotion of Petits - small Entrepreneurs) provides small loans to women in difficulty in Togo, Benin and Mali. The program also works with disadvantaged craftsmen by training in production and commercialisation of products for export in faire trade.

In France they created a faire trade network "Artisans du Soleil".

Today the farm houses the offices of the NGO as well as providing a place for meetings, for sharing and for building change in Western communities as well as only with the poor in the south.
