Beverly
Ott
and Olivier
Hauville
made the choice of living on and building this farm and
guest house. |
|
Having
met while working in Chad and international aid work, Olivier
is French with a political science and economics
background. |
|
Beverly
is American having studied and worked in social
services and policy analysis in the US. |
|
|
Together,
after years of working in foreign development, in 1990,
the couple started an international development
organisation aimed at fighting poverty in urban areas. ECHOPPE
(Exchange for the Organisation and the Promotion of
Petits - small Entrepreneurs) provides small loans to
women in difficulty in Togo, Benin and Mali. The program
also works with disadvantaged craftsmen by training in
production and commercialisation of products for export
in faire trade. |
|
Today
the farm houses the offices of the NGO as well as
providing a place for meetings, for sharing and for
building change in Western communities as well as only
with the poor in the south.
